ULM Trains Muslim Women Entrepreneurs to Manage Emotions and Business Through the “Work Happiness” Program
BANJARMASIN – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), through the Management Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), held a training titled “Work Happiness” for Muslim women micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Banjarmasin City. The community service activity, which took place at Warung Bambu, East Banjarmasin District, on Tuesday (August 26, 2025), was attended by approximately 50 participants.
This training was designed to address the challenges often faced by Muslim women entrepreneurs, ranging from emotional stress, role conflict between business and family, to limited social support. These conditions often affect their work-life balance, psychological well-being, and the sustainability of their businesses.
The Head of the Community Service Team, Hastin Umi Anisah, explained that the Islamic positive psychology approach was chosen to enable participants to interpret work as worship while simultaneously building mental resilience.
“The main problems faced by working women are role conflict, lack of social support, and emotional stress. This can impact their psychological well-being and business performance,” she said.
Through this training, participants not only received material but also simple practices such as the use of reflection cards and modules to help maintain a healthy work routine, both emotionally and spiritually. Islamic values such as patience, gratitude, and trust in God (Tawakal) were also emphasized as key to managing emotions and stress.
Hastin added that the expected outcomes of this activity include improved emotional regulation skills, a strengthening of the meaning of work, and better stress management.
“If psychological well-being is good, businesses will be more sustainable, families more harmonious, and quality of life will also improve,” she explained.
In addition to the training sessions, ULM also produced academic outputs in the form of a book entitled “Happiness at Work” and a scientific article to be published in a community service journal. This step demonstrates ULM’s commitment to integrating community service activities with scientific development.
