Leader’s Lab: Rest & Reflect Provides Leadership Motivation for Students
Banjarmasin – Leadership is not just about directing others, but also about pausing, looking within, and rediscovering direction. This spirit was conveyed through the Leader’s Lab: Rest & Reflect activity held by the Guidance and Counseling Academic Support Unit of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) at the Idham Zarkasi Auditorium, Faculty of Law, ULM Banjarmasin.
Attended by students from diverse organizational backgrounds, the atmosphere of the activity was both warm and reflective. There was no hustle and bustle, but rather a space that provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on their leadership journeys.
The Head of the ULM Guidance and Counseling Unit, Dr. Ririanti Rachmayanie J., S.Psi., M.Pd., stated that the Leader’s Lab activity, implemented by the ULM Guidance and Counseling Unit, was designed to foster students’ potential. Because, in essence, the UPA BK (Center for Student Guidance and Counseling) is not just a facility for those experiencing academic or non-academic problems.
“The guidance and counseling program focuses not only on those experiencing problems but also on developing their potential,” said the Head of UPA BK.
In the sessions, students were encouraged to recognize the importance of balance between academic, organizational, and personal life responsibilities. Through reflective activities, participants learned that true leadership grows from self-awareness, sincerity, and the ability to continuously learn.
More than just an activity, Leader’s Lab: Rest & Reflect served as a reminder that leadership isn’t always synonymous with busyness. There are times when a leader finds meaning and strength in silence. Through this reflection, students were able to reflect on their potential and develop themselves, thus creating young ULM leaders who are ready to move forward with calmer hearts, clearer minds, and stronger determination.
“We must engage in self-development to upgrade ourselves so that we can become whole, independent, and full of potential,” concluded the Head of UPA BK.
