ULM Co-Hosts 16th CUPT-CRISU, Strengthening Collaboration on Food Security and Industrial Research
Nusantara Capital City– Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) played a key role in the 16th CUPT-CRISU (Council of University Presidents of Thailand and the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State Universities) High-Level Meeting, which took place on August 25–26, 2025, in the Indonesian capital, Indonesia. This international forum carried the theme “Innovation Meets Food Security and Industrial Development.”
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si., represented the university and served as co-host, along with regional universities in Kalimantan: Mulawarman University, Tanjungpura University, Borneo Tarakan University, Palangka Raya University, and the Kalimantan Institute of Technology, which served as the main committee.
At the meeting, which brought together university leaders from Indonesia and Thailand, Prof. Ahmad emphasized that ULM’s participation is part of an effort to strengthen international collaboration networks, particularly in the field of research and scientific development.
“Thank God, ULM was entrusted to co-host the forum with several universities in Kalimantan. In this forum, we discussed the Minister of Agriculture’s food security strategy and the research policy direction of the Ministry of Education and Technology. We hope that ULM can make a real contribution to national development, particularly in the area of ​​food security,” he said.
As a university with excellence in the agriculture and natural resources sector, ULM is utilizing this momentum to explore opportunities for innovative research collaborations, both in food technology development and sustainable industrial development.
Prof. Ahmad added that ULM has initiated several strategic programs in the field of food security, one of which is a cattle fattening collaboration with the South Kalimantan Regional Police, the Provincial Government, and PT Gunung Antang Meratus. This initiative is expected to become a model for the real contribution of universities in supporting national food security.
ULM’s presence at the 16th CUPT-CRISU High-Level Meeting affirms the university’s role as a strategic partner in sustainable development in the Southeast Asian region. By paving the way for collaborative research, ULM is committed to strengthening its position as a center of excellence in the field of food security and innovation-based industrial development.
