Banjarbaru – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), through its Compulsory Lecturer Service Program (PDWA) Team from the Statistics Study Program, provided mentoring to the Putri Idaman Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Guntung Payung Village, Landasan Ulin District, Banjarbaru, on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).

The mentoring session, titled “Product Pricing with Attractive Packaging to Attract Buyers,” focused on pricing strategies and attractive product packaging to enable local MSMEs to penetrate the modern market.

The PDWA Team Leader, Fuad Muhajrin Farid, explained that professional packaging can increase a product’s selling value and appeal.

“Attractive packaging not only enhances its appearance but also enhances the perception of quality. When combined with the right price, KWT products will be more readily accepted in the modern market,” he said.

The topic on competitive pricing strategies was delivered by Ardiansyah Abubakar, S.Pd., M.Sc., who emphasized the importance of calculating the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) in marketing processed products.

The event also featured several regional officials, including Windi Novianto, Deputy Speaker II of the Banjarbaru Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Syaidah, Head of the Industry Division of the Banjarbaru Trade and Industry Office (Disperindag), Wieke Damayanti, Head of the MSME Division of the Banjarbaru Cooperatives and Manpower Office (Diskopumnaker), as well as village officials and representatives from the Agricultural Extension Center (Pusat Pengurusan Pertanian). Their presence provided morale boosting encouragement for the Putri Idaman Women’s Group (KWT Putri Idaman) members to continue innovating.

Windi Novianto assessed that this training aligns with Banjarbaru’s aerocity program, which encourages MSMEs to grow more independently.

“This activity needs community support to produce quality products. The active role of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) is also crucial in encouraging community creativity,” he said.

Support also came from the Banjarbaru Trade and Industry Office, which provides a “Packaging House” service, which offers free packaging design and printing for up to 100 units for new entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the Banjarbaru Office of Cooperatives and Manpower (Diskopumnaker) has prepared the Go UMKM program, SAKU UMKM, marketing assistance, and free halal certification to strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses.

This training was enthusiastically received by members of the Putri Idaman Women’s Group (KWT). Armed with new knowledge about packaging and pricing strategies, they are optimistic about expanding their marketing network and penetrating the modern market.

ULM’s efforts through PDWA demonstrate the university’s role in empowering communities while supporting local economic independence based on MSMEs.
