PDWA FMIPA ULM Encourages the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom
BANJARBARU – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), through its Compulsory Lecturer Service Program (PDWA), continues to promote the use of modern technology in education. This time, lecturers from the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, ULM, attended SMPN 12 Banjarbaru to provide training on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the learning process on Thursday (August 14, 2025).
This activity aims to strengthen teachers’ capacity in integrating technology into the classroom. AI is expected to not only assist in the development of questions and teaching materials, but also encourage the creation of more interactive and enjoyable learning methods for students.
The main speaker, Saman Abdurrahman, S.Si., M.Sc., presented a presentation entitled “Optimizing the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Learning Process at SMPN 12 Banjarbaru: Teacher Assistance and Learning Material Development.” In this session, he emphasized the importance of AI as a tool that can accelerate and facilitate teachers in designing learning that is relevant to students’ needs.
Sixteen teachers from SMPN 12 Banjarbaru enthusiastically participated in the activity. One teacher, Legiyo, expressed gratitude for the new experience.
“Thank God, my knowledge has increased. Things I didn’t understand at first are now easier to grasp. I hope to understand them better in the future,” he said.
The PDWA activity involved eight lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, ULM:

Through this mentoring, ULM hopes teachers will become more confident in integrating AI technology into their learning. This initiative is believed to create a more creative and interactive classroom environment and foster students’ critical thinking.
