Karang Intan, July 27, 2025 – Continuing its commitment to village empowerment, particularly for women and children, the Student Organization Capacity Building Program Implementation Team (PPK Ormawa) of the Student Representative Council of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (DPM FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) implemented a flagship program, the BUNGAS Women’s School.

This activity included two main sessions: the Leadership Class, attended by mothers, village cadres, and young women, and the Himung Class, attended by children from Karang Intan Village.

The event, held at the Karang Intan Village Hall on Sunday (July 27), carried the theme “Stay Inspired, Stay Active: Building Spirit and Consistency in Organizational Life.” This leadership class featured an inspiring speaker, Talitha Fatimah Rahma, S.Kg., a young dentist and young women’s activist.

In her presentation, Talitha emphasized the importance of women becoming empowered and confident individuals capable of facing various challenges within organizations. She also encouraged participants to develop a growth mindset as the key to overcoming obstacles and fostering a spirit of learning through a consistent process and an openness to failure.

The participants, consisting of mothers, village cadres, and young women, demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the session. Discussions focused on case studies based on real-life experiences in the community, creating an interactive and lively classroom atmosphere.

This class is one of the programs developed by the Student Representative Council (DPM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (ULM) to unlock the skills and abilities of women in Karang Intan Village, particularly leadership.

Although gender discrimination in leadership still exists, it is hoped that this activity will foster women’s leadership skills so they can continue to grow and develop in their daily lives and within community organizations. This will ultimately lead to positive village development, in line with the aspirations of all local residents. The event was also attended by the supervising lecturer, Ms. Agianto, S.Kep., M.N.S., Ph.D., and the Village Head, Mr. Ari Rujani, S.Sos.

Simultaneously, the Himung Class, designed for village children, also became a highlight of the event. Through activities such as children’s storybook reviews, storytelling, and educational games, the Himung Class provided a learning atmosphere and motivation to foster a love of reading and strengthen character from an early age. The majority of the children in attendance were girls.

As the nation’s next generation, these young women are prepared with educational enhancements that are part of “unlocking life skills.” The implementation of this class is part of the BUNGAS Women’s School’s efforts to empower communities and villages.

This program is committed to increasing the capacity of women, village communities, and the student organization itself, the DPM FKIK ULM. The day’s event concluded with a group photo session and a closing ceremony, symbolizing the establishment of a collaborative space between students and the village community.
