HIMA PSKep FKIK ULM Holds a Grand Social Service, Campaigning for a Healthy Life Without Hypertension
Martapura – The Nursing Study Program Student Association (HIMA PSKep) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) once again demonstrated its social concern through a Grand Social Service activity entitled “SEHATI – Healthy Without Hypertension: Recognize, Avoid, Overcome!”.
This activity was held on Saturday (19/4/2025) in Labuan Tabu Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, and was attended by 37 participants. The aim is to increase public understanding of hypertension, as well as invite residents to care more about early detection and prevention of the disease.
In this event, the health education session was one of the main agendas. The educational material was delivered by Ns. Yongki Agustian S., M.Kep. in a communicative and easy-to-understand manner. He discussed in full the definition, causes, symptoms, and complications of hypertension, as well as steps to prevent and treat it.
“With a good understanding, it is hoped that the community can detect and prevent hypertension more quickly before serious complications occur,” he said.
In addition to education, free health checks were also carried out which included measuring weight, height, blood pressure, as well as checking blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels.
Residents were also given the opportunity to consult directly with the accompanying lecturers, namely Ns. Rifda Nur Achriyana Arif, M.Kep., Ns. Yongki Agustian S., M.Kep., and Ns. Bernadetta Germia Aridamayanti, M.Kep. This consultation discussed the results of the examination as well as delving into the complaints or symptoms felt by residents.
As a follow-up, all health screening results for residents were entered into the Sehat Indonesiaku application. This data will be a reference for the health team and the Banjar Regency Health Office to design sustainable interventions, as well as monitor the health conditions of the community systematically.
The head of the Baksos Akbar implementation, Nadia Karimah, expressed her appreciation for the enthusiasm of the residents.
“Through education and direct examinations, public awareness of the importance of healthy living is increasing,” she said.
The Advisor of HIMA PSKep FKIK ULM, Bernadetta Germia Aridamayanti, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., also gave her appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students in carrying out this activity. She considered that this kind of social service activity is very beneficial, not only for the community, but also to enrich the field experience and skills of nursing students.
