Student Organization Public Speaking Training Equips Students About Digital Influence Through Social Media
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) held a Public Speaking Training for Student Organizations (Ormawa) with the theme “Social Media for Public Speaking – Boosting Your Digital Influence”. This activity took place at the ULM General Building, Banjarmasin, and was attended by students from various student organizations on campus.
This training is part of ULM’s annual program which aims to develop the communication and leadership capacity of students, especially those who are active in campus organizations. Through themes that are relevant to the development of the digital era, participants are equipped with strategies for public speaking and how to use social media to convey messages effectively.
In her remarks, Evy Noor Aina Hasni, S.E., as the Coordinator of Student and Alumni Development, conveyed the importance of this training for the success of students in organizational and social life.
“This public speaking training is a routine agenda that we hold every year, especially for Ormawa. This is very useful, because in the science of speaking it is not just about talking, but there are certain tricks that we must have to be able to communicate effectively with the audience,” she said.
“It would be wise if we listened carefully,” she added, inviting participants to seriously follow each session.
In today’s digital era, the ability to speak in public is not only needed in direct forums, but also in virtual spaces. Therefore, this training is designed not only to hone oral communication skills, but also the use of social media as a means of conveying organizational messages, building digital influence, and expanding the reach of campaigns or work programs.
Through interactive sessions, participants learn to compose interesting content, convey messages convincingly, and create audience engagement online. This training also emphasizes the importance of communication ethics and digital awareness in building a positive image.
With this training, ULM hopes that Ormawa administrators will not only become active organizers, but also capable, persuasive young communicators who have a positive influence in the digital world. This is part of the campus’s efforts to equip students with the 21st century skills needed to address global challenges and advance student organizations.
