Rector Attends Grand Harvest with President Prabowo in Barito Kuala
Barito Kuala — A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere enveloped Ray 15, Panca Karya Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan, together with President Prabowo Subianto virtually to lead the Simultaneous Grand Harvest in 14 Provinces, Monday morning (8/4/2025). In this event, the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., was also present and gave his full support to national efforts to realize food security.
In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of food self-sufficiency for the sake of national sovereignty.
“We must be able to feed our own people. We have land, we have great farmers. We just need to synergize everything,” he said in front of farmers, regional officials, and other invitees.
The President emphasized that the government will not stop at that achievement. Strategic programs such as rice field printing, fertilizer distribution, agricultural technology, and village cooperatives will continue to be expanded to encourage food independence.
“I want to be a President who successfully maintains food prices. I want our people to enjoy sufficient protein, at affordable prices. We want villages to have warehouses, cold storage, cheap pharmacies, and trucks to transport the harvest. We want farmers to prosper,” he explained.
The President also expressed his respect and pride for all Indonesian farmers. He called them heroes of production, and emphasized that his government would stand with them to build the future of Indonesian food.
“We are proud to serve the people. There is no nobler calling than defending farmers. Therefore, farmers must be honored. Must prosper. And we will prove it together,” said Prabowo.
The Rector welcomed today’s activities. He emphasized that ULM, as the largest university in South Kalimantan, is ready to synergize in developing agricultural technology, research, and farmer assistance.
“ULM has a strategic role in connecting the academic world with field practice. We are ready to contribute to creating modern and sustainable agriculture, especially in our own region,” said Prof. Ahmad.
This grand harvest is a symbol of the spirit of mutual cooperation between the central government, regional governments, farmers, and the world of education. The activity, which was held simultaneously in 14 provinces, was not only an event to harvest agricultural products, but also a harvest of hope that Indonesia can stand on its own two feet in food matters.
The event in Barito Kuala was lively, with demonstrations of modern harvesting equipment and direct dialogue between the President and farmers. The participants looked enthusiastic in participating in this event.
