ULM Forms Acceleration Team to Restore Accreditation, Remains Best in South Kalimantan According to EduRank

Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has maintained its position as the best university in South Kalimantan based on the EduRank 2024 ranking. However, ULM experienced a drop in accreditation from “Excellent” to “Good” due to findings of violations in the submission of professorships by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT).

ULM ranks 31st nationally and 2,196th globally. Additionally, the university is in the TOP 50 percent in 45 research topics. ULM is the only university in South Kalimantan to be in the top 80 best universities according to EduRank this year.

EduRank is a ranking agency based in the United States that evaluates universities based on various indicators such as teaching quality, research, academic reputation, and alumni impact.

Regarding the drop in accreditation, ULM has taken swift action by forming the Higher Education Institution Accreditation Acceleration Team (AIPT). This team is tasked with accelerating the recovery of accreditation status to return to the “Excellent” rating.

ULM Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Iwan Alfanie, revealed that they had submitted reaccreditation documents to BAN-PT on November 15, 2024. “The documents we submitted are complete, more than 300 pages. We are optimistic that the accreditation will return to Excellent,” he said on Thursday (23/1/2025).

However, BAN-PT has not yet scheduled a field assessment to evaluate the documents. “We are still waiting for notification from BAN-PT regarding the assessor team that will come,” added Iwan.

ULM was given until November 19, 2024, to submit for reaccreditation based on BAN-PT Decree Number 1972/SK/BAN-PT/MONEV/PT/X/2024.

Despite the drop in domestic accreditation, ULM continues to receive international recognition. EduRank notes that the university has 11,614 academic publications and 10,274 citations, as well as the impact of two prominent alumni who have made significant contributions in their fields.

ULM reaffirms its commitment to promptly restore accreditation as a form of responsibility to the academic community and the people of South Kalimantan. “We continue to strive to restore accreditation to an A rating as a form of our commitment to quality education,” emphasized Iwan.

Previously, through letter number 1582/BAN-PT/LL/2024 dated September 20, 2024, BAN-PT determined the drop in ULM’s accreditation. However, with the strategic steps that have been prepared, ULM is optimistic that it can regain the highest accreditation in the near future.
