In Commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary, Menwa Nagarunting ULM Conducts Pilgrimage to the Tomb of the First Battalion Commander
Martapura – In commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary, the Nagarunting Student Regiment (Menwa) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a pilgrimage to the Tomb of the late Drs. H. Gusti Hidayat AR bin H. Gusti Abdurrahman located in the Sultan Adam Martapura Tomb Complex, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, Wednesday (01/15/2025). The pilgrimage was attended by members, seniors, alumni and Menwa ULM Menwa Advisors.
The late Drs. Gusti Hidayat AR was a unifying figure for Menwa South Kalimantan in his time and became the First Commander of the South Kalimantan Student Regiment (Men-Mahakala) Nagarunting Battalion (1963) or now known as the Menwa 601 Nagarunting ULM Unit. He is also the older brother of H. Gusti (P) Rusdi Effendi AR who also has a great contribution in the development of Menwa ULM from time to time.
This pilgrimage is a reflection to remember and honor the great services of the late Drs. H. Gusti Hidayat AR in motivating the younger generation to continue the struggle in developing character, leadership, and the spirit of defending the country.
The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the 62nd Anniversary of Menwa Nagarunting ULM in 2025, Ali Ahmad Abdul Gafar expressed his gratitude for the implementation of the pilgrimage event to the Tomb of the First Commander of the Menwa Nagarunting Battalion.
“Alhamdulillah, we have finished carrying out the pilgrimage activity to the Tomb of the First Commander of the Menwa Nagarunting Battalion. This is part of a series of activities to Commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of Menwa Nagarunting ULM in 2025,” he said.
Ali added “Hopefully this activity can increase historical knowledge for ULM Menwa members as the theme of this year’s anniversary is ’62nd Anniversary of Menwa Nagarunting: Exploring History and Strengthening the Spirit of Estuary to Build the Future'”.
In a series of activities to commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of Menwa Nagarunting ULM which will be held on January 24-25, 2025, Satmenwa 601/NRT ULM will hold various activities including blood donation, anniversary commemoration events, social services, and traditional Hadang Game competitions.
“Hopefully with this series of activities, it can strengthen the spirit of estuary or solidarity between members and alumni, especially Menwa Nagarunting ULM, and the ULM academic community and provide benefits to the community,” added Ali who is also a ULM Mechanical Engineering student and the Elected Commander of Satmenwa 601/NRT ULM for the 2025 Period.
