Steps to Take If You Become a Victim of Digital Transaction Fraud

  1. Immediately Contact Your Bank or Financial Services Provider. If the fraud involves a credit card, debit card, or digital wallet, immediately contact your bank or financial services provider. Report the incident and ask to block the card or account involved to prevent further misuse.
  2. Collect Evidence of Fraud. Save all related evidence, such as screenshots of messages, emails, or transaction history. This evidence is important for reporting the case to the authorities and supporting your claim.
  3. Report to the Authorities. Report the fraud to the police or an official platform that handles digital crime cases in your country. In Indonesia, you can report it to an official site such as Patroli Siber (https://patrolisiber.id) or the OJK complaint service if it is related to financial services.
  4. Change and Increase Account Security. Change the password for the account related to the transaction. If possible, enable two-factor authentication to provide an additional layer of protection for your account.
  5. Monitor Your Account or Account. Monitor transactions on your account or digital account to ensure there is no suspicious activity after the incident. If there is, immediately report it to the bank or related financial service.
  6. Educate Yourself and the Environment. Learn about digital fraud modes to avoid similar incidents in the future. Sharing your experiences with others can also help raise awareness around you.
  7. Staying calm and acting quickly is key to minimizing the impact of digital fraud. With the right steps, you can protect yourself and mitigate the losses that have occurred.

If your complaint or report to the Bank or financial service does not get a response, please make a complaint to several consumer complaint service channels owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade below:
