FKIK ULM Holds SOP Preparation Workshop, Encourages Increased Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness
Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a workshop on preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on November 18-19, 2024. The workshop, which took place at the Rattan In Banjarmasin Hotel, involved study program coordinators and heads of implementing units at the faculty level.
This activity aims to improve understanding and skills in preparing effective SOPs that are in accordance with the needs of the faculty. Participants are invited to understand the basic concepts of SOPs, the importance of SOPs in improving service quality, and the steps for preparing them.
After the presentation of the material, participants were divided into groups to carry out independent work in preparing the SOPs needed in each study program and unit.
This activity is expected to produce clear and structured SOPs, so that it can facilitate the implementation of tasks and responsibilities in each unit. In addition, the preparation of good SOPs is also expected to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness at FKIK ULM.
Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Syamsul Arifin, in his speech emphasized the importance of this workshop as a strategic step to ensure that each unit has clear guidelines in carrying out its duties.
“With a good SOP, we can improve the quality of service and ensure that all processes run according to the established standards,” he said.
Furthermore, the Dean explained that SOPs have a very important role in the PPEPP Cycle (Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) and internal quality in the faculty.
In the Planning stage, SOPs help formulate clear and measurable steps to achieve the desired goals. This ensures that each study program and unit has the same direction in achieving the faculty’s vision and mission.
During the Implementation stage, SOPs function as operational guidelines that ensure that each activity is carried out in accordance with established procedures. This not only increases efficiency, but also reduces the risk of errors that can occur during the process.
At the Evaluation stage, SOP allows the faculty to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of each process carried out. With SOP, evaluation can be carried out systematically, so that the results are more accurate and reliable.
Furthermore, in the Control stage, SOP plays an important role in monitoring the implementation of activities to ensure that all activities remain on the right track and in accordance with established standards.
Finally, in the Improvement stage, the evaluated SOP can be updated and refined to improve service quality continuously. Thus, SOP is not just a document, but a vital tool in creating a culture of continuous improvement at FKIK ULM.
With a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to continuously improve quality, FKIK ULM is optimistic that this workshop will have a positive impact on faculty development.
