Encouraging ASN Neutrality, South Kalimantan Governor Expected to Implement KASN Recommendations

BANJARMASIN – The State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN) issued a recommendation for Severe Disciplinary Punishment for the Head of the South Kalimantan Education and Culture Service (Kadisdikbud), Muhammadun. Now, Madun’s fate remains in the hands of South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor. This is because the Governor, as the Civil Service Development Officer, has the authority to impose these sanctions. In accordance with KASN’s recommendations, the Governor of South Kalimantan was asked to take follow-up action within 14 calendar days, starting from the time the letter was received.

Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Constitutional Law expert, Prof. Hadin Muhjad, encouraged the Governor to implement these recommendations. “The minimum sanction is removal from office, and the maximum is dismissal as ASN,” he said, Thursday (21/12/2023). If KASN’s recommendations are not implemented, Hadin admitted that he is worried that it will harm the implementation of the 2024 elections in South Kalimantan. “Because in this case two things are involved, namely the neutrality of ASN and elections,” he said.

The imposition of sanctions must also be supervised by KASN. Apart from that, the South Kalimantan Bawaslu must not give up. If the Governor ignores KASN’s recommendations, South Kalimantan Bawaslu is advised to be proactive. “The recommendation clearly proves that the South Kalimantan Head of Education and Culture is guilty,” he stressed.
