The Inauguration of 3 Students with Disabilities and 4 Filipino Students as Undergraduates is a Manifestation of ULM’s Commitment to Improving the Quality of the University
Banjarmasin – “Hopefully the momentum of this graduation can raise the determination and enthusiasm of the academic community and ULM graduates to provide the best service to the alma mater, society and the Indonesian state, especially the province of South Kalimantan,” said South Kalimantan Province Community and Human Resources Expert Staff Hj. Husnul Hatimah who attended the 115th graduation ceremony of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) represented the Governor of South Kalimantan H. Sahbirin Noor.
The 115th ULM graduation ceremony which was held on Tuesday (28/11/2023) at the ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium was the sixth graduation ceremony in 2023. Based on statistics processed by the ULM Alumni subsection, this year ULM succeeded in producing approximately 7,769 graduates starting from D3 graduates , S1, S2, Profession, and specialist doctors.
Among the 115 graduates, ULM graduated 3 deaf students. They are Nadya Milenia (1910127320012), Hidayah (1910127320011), and Syam Rizki (1910127310013), class of 2019 students of the Special Education study program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. They are students who receive the Affirmation of Higher Education (ADik) Disability Scholarship.
The ADik Disability Scholarship is a scholarship provided by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology through the Education Financing Service Center. Ministry of Education and Culture. The ADik Disability Scholarship is one of the scholarship schemes provided so that more students with disabilities can access and receive maximum benefits. This policy was issued to assist access and provide educational costs for people with disabilities. This is in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 8 of 2016 where people with disabilities also have the right to receive quality education in inclusive and special education units.
Apart from that, at this graduation, ULM also graduated 4 foreign students from the Philippines. Mary Elea Caye V. Panglinan and Christian Tempomona Adilang graduated as undergraduates from the Management study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, while Micaelah Joy Custodio and Olivia B. Pallera graduated as undergraduates from the Pharmacy study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Science.
The four students are studying at ULM through the ULM international cooperation scholarship program which was also initiated by the Indonesian Embassy’s education attaché in Manila. Christian Adilang received a scholarship from a collaboration between ULM and the Indonesian School of Davao Philippines, while 3 other Filipino students received scholarships from a collaboration between ULM and the Philippine Women’s University.
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Sc., in his speech at the 115th graduation ceremony expressed his target to make ULM a World Class University. Therefore, ULM proves its commitment to becoming an inclusive campus. In the future, ULM will strive to further improve facilities to become an inclusive and disability-friendly campus. ULM also continues to improve the quality of education and services, one of which is by establishing international collaboration.
