ULM Students Again Achieve Achievements in the 2023 Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI).
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) students have once again made achievements through their students. Tajmila, a class of 2022 student of the Law study program at the ULM Faculty of Law, succeeded in winning an award as an Accredited Institutional Judge at the 2023 Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) which was held at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (UNTIRTA), Banten from 11 to 17 September 2023.
Accredited Judges are judges who have passed the accreditation process while participating in debate competitions in KDMI events. To obtain the award as an Accredited Judge, Tajmila as an institutional judge is required to take part in judging seminars, debate seminars and jury accreditation and will also take various tests (questions) first to obtain a certain score.
Institutional judges can judge with a chief judge, either from the core Judge (CA) or invited Judge (IA) along with several other institutional judges. Institutional judges also have the possibility of obtaining Trainee and Panel titles. Panelist judges can contribute to discussions and have the capacity to vote for the head judge if necessary, while trainee judges are judges who can contribute to discussions, but do not have a vote.
It is known that the Judges accreditation is based on the accumulated scores obtained during the preliminary rounds. The assessment will be given by the head of the jury in the debate room based on the Judgesability to give scores and analysis of the judging results. The accumulated scores obtained by the judges will determine the categorization of accredited judges.
The Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) is an annual competition held by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education and Culture. This event has been held since 2018 as a vehicle for students throughout Indonesia to show their best abilities in critical thinking and communication, increase self-confidence, develop networks between universities, and foster a sense of unity and pride in national and cultural diversity.
This achievement is certainly a matter of pride for Lambung Mangkurat University, and is the real result of the talent interest mentoring program which has been carried out continuously. With this achievement, it is hoped that it can motivate other students to not only focus on learning in the lecture hall, but also to actively participate in interest and talent competitions. Through this participation, students will of course have experience in competing with students from other universities and have the opportunity to improve and develop their interests and talents.
