Supporting the Youth Culture Camp Program, ULM RectorTargets Sending 110 Students

“A great nation is a nation that is able to develop and maintain its national culture”.

This statement was conveyed by the Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., at the Youth Culture Camp – Free Learning, Free Culture on Tuesday (21/3/2023) at the Lecture Theater General Building ULM Banjarmasin.

As one of the programs of the Directorate General of Culture for the Development of Human Resources and Cultural Institutions, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, this activity carries the theme “Contribution of Tech Savvy in the Advancement of Culture”. The Director of Human Resources Development and Cultural Institutions, Dr. Restu Gunawan, M.Hum., this activity is said to be an effort to advance culture through collaboration between culture and various other scientific disciplines.

The promotion of culture in question is contained in the Law on the Advancement of Culture in which there are 10 objects for the promotion of culture including oral traditions, manuscripts, customs, folk games, traditional sports, traditional knowledge, traditional technology, art, language and rites. .

Dr. Restu said that in this program students are invited to participate in learning culture and collaborate with their respective fields of knowledge. To appreciate the involvement of students, they will also be given credit conversions like other MBKM programs.

“Students will be able to make prototypes. There will also be an application later. But the basis is culture,” he said.

The Rector of ULM welcomed this Cultural Camp program. In his remarks he conveyed the target to send 10 students from each faculty at ULM to take part in this program. Indonesia as a country that is rich in cultural diversity needs strategic programs to maintain and maintain its culture.

“Culture that is developed and maintained is also a true form of national defense,” he said.
