Banjarmasin, the Indonesian Social Studies Education Study Program Association (APPRIPSI) held the “Training On How To Write International Reputable Articles, Social Studies Education ULM” on Monday, (30/01/2023). This event was held by Prof. Dr. Bambang Subiyatko, M.Hum as chairman of the committee in the 1st Floor of the ULM Rectorate Hall. Present at the event, Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH, Prof. Dr. Drs. Ersis Warmansyah Abbas, BA, M.Pd who is also the general chairman of the 2022-2027 APRIPSI as well as a guest speaker at this event. Other speakers include Prof. datu CH, Dr. Ismi Rajani, M.M., Lecturer and students in the social studies study program.

It is felt that this event needs to be discussed in more depth considering that there are still many wrong articles written. It is hoped that through this event the methods and techniques in making articles/scientific works as well as good dissemination can be improved within the ULM environment, especially the ULM IPS Study Program. Currently, scientific publications continue to be intensified in tertiary institutions in order to improve the quality of institutions, encourage lecturer productivity, and others. This does not only apply to lecturers, but students are also required to be able to publish their scientific work such as theses, theses or dissertations in the form of journal articles as one of the graduation requirements. Therefore students can also have an important contribution in the dissemination of knowledge through the publication of national and international journals which are widespread.

The Deputy Rector believes that reflecting on Indonesia’s current condition, if Indonesia is said to be advanced in terms of research it seems that it is not, Indonesia only has research funds of around 2 billion US$ with a population of more than 260 million, very far when compared to Malaysia with a population of 32 million their souls have a research fund of around 9.7 billion US$, apart from that South Korea also has a research fund of 31 billion US$ which only has 51 million souls. Judging from these data, it can be concluded that the main problem faced by Indonesia lies in our alignment with research which is still lacking, and has even decreased due to the support factor that is not the same as that of other countries. Of course this is a challenge for Indonesia, especially ULM, to continue to actively seek funding for research to be carried out. “We can’t just hope for research funding from the government, but we also have to collect research funds from companies, foreign brands or others,” said the Vice Rector.

Dr. Iwan also expressed his pride for the IPS ULM Study Program which is one of the Study Programs with rapid progress. There is quite a lot of research issued by the IPS Study Program. In addition, several lecturers are also included in the 100 leading scientists in Indonesia, which is a research indicator and deserves appreciation.
