ULM–Banjarbaru Collaboration Evaluation: Impactful Campus, Developing Region
Banjarbaru — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) and the Banjarbaru City Government conducted a review and discussion of the collaboration as a strategic step to strengthen institutional collaboration between the two parties. The event took place at the Idaman Hall of the Banjarbaru City Regional Secretariat on Tuesday (February 3, 2026).
The collaboration review was attended by Muhammad Ilyas, Acting Head of the ULM Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations Bureau (BPKH); Andi Nursalam, S.Pt., Coordinator of Cooperation and Public Relations; and the ULM collaboration team. From the Banjarbaru City Government, the event was led by Indra Saputera, Head of the Government Department of Banjarbaru City Government; and attended by the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (BAPPERIDA), the Inspectorate, the Banjarbaru City Public Works and Housing Agency, and relevant officials.
This activity was carried out as a follow-up to the expiration of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ULM and the Banjarbaru City Government, signed in 2021 and set to expire in 2026. Therefore, the review was conducted to evaluate the achievements of the previous collaboration and to formulate a direction for future collaboration that is more relevant to regional development needs.
In the discussion, ULM affirmed its commitment as a state university in South Kalimantan to continue actively contributing to regional development, particularly through the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, which encompasses education, research, and community service.
Through this forum, both parties discussed opportunities to strengthen synergies, particularly in the areas of development planning, research, and regional innovation, which can be supported by ULM’s academic and scientific resources. This collaboration is expected to produce programs with a tangible impact on the development of Banjarbaru City.
ULM views the collaboration with the Banjarbaru City Government as a strategic partnership that is not merely administrative but also substantive in addressing regional development challenges. The results of this review and discussion are expected to form the basis for drafting an extension and strengthening of the MoU for cooperation that is more adaptive, sustainable, and oriented towards mutual progress.
