Banjarmasin — Lambung Mangkurat University held an Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) activity for students in three health professional study programs. The activity took place from January 19–24, 2026, at the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) , Banjarmasin.

The IPC was attended by students from the Dentistry Professional Education Program (PSPPDGPP) of the Faculty of Dentistry ULM, the Physician Professional Education Program (PSPPDP) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences ULM, and the Pharmacy Professional Education Program (PSPPA) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ULM, with preceptors from each profession participating.

The series of activities began with a hospital orientation and an introduction to the dentistry, general practitioner, and pharmacist interns. Next, participants participated in a polyclinic orientation and bedside teaching activities, which were held in rotation over several rounds, before concluding with the preparation of an activity report.

Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Dentistry ULM, drg. H. Isnur Hatta, MAP., in his remarks, stated that the IPC program plays a strategic role in developing the competencies of healthcare students.

“This IPC program aims to improve students’ competencies in collaborative, integrated, and patient safety-oriented healthcare practices. Through an interprofessional teamwork approach, students are expected to understand the roles and responsibilities of each profession in comprehensive patient management,” he said.

The Acting Director of Hasan Aman General Hospital, drg. Mashuda, M.Kes., welcomed the program. In his remarks, he expressed his hope, “Hopefully, we can continue to explore and build collaborations that will ultimately improve competencies in line with the increasingly complex dynamics of society, thereby enabling us to better assist our patients and, of course, also increase public satisfaction with services.”

During the program, students from all three study programs will learn how to work together in various clinical activities and case discussions, from patient assessment and treatment planning to therapy evaluation. The event’s PIC, Dr. drg. Debby Saputera, Sp.Pros., stated that the IPC was held in the clinical environment of RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman, a teaching hospital, and was expected to provide real-world experience in interprofessional collaboration.

Through this activity, ULM hopes that students will develop communication skills, teamwork, and collaborative clinical decision-making, preparing them to face the challenges of healthcare in the professional world while prioritizing patient safety and quality of care. (Public Relations/AM)
