ULM Assists and Hands Over Halal Certificates to 18 Maringgit MSMEs, Strengthening Village-Based Halal Economy

BARABAI – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again demonstrated its role in strengthening the community economy through a halal-based MSME mentoring program in Maringgit Village, Pandawan District, Central Hulu Sungai. Eighteen MSMEs in the village officially received halal certificates from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) on Wednesday (November 12, 2025), during an event held at the Maringgit Village Hall.

The certificates were awarded by the ULM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Community Service Team, which has been assisting the businesses since early 2025 in obtaining halal legality, improving production quality, and refining product packaging.

In addition to the halal certificates, ULM also handed over various new production equipment, such as a large stove, mixer, frying pan, milling machine, and blender. This support is provided to improve hygiene standards, production effectiveness, and the readiness of MSMEs to enter a wider market. Business owners also receive a halal logo and banner as the official identity of “Halal MSMEs in Maringgit Village.”

The Head of the ULM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Community Service Team, Haifa Lestari, S.Pd., M.E.K., explained that this program is part of ULM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local MSMEs through year-round mentoring.

“This mentoring not only helps MSMEs obtain halal certification but also improves the quality of their packaging and business professionalism. Now they are better prepared to compete and enter the modern market,” she said.

ULM’s support has been enthusiastically received by the community. The Head of the Kemayu UP2K (Regional Community Empowerment Agency) in Maringgit Village, Fauziah, expressed her appreciation for the university’s contribution.

“We feel more confident marketing our products. I hope ULM’s mentoring will continue for the advancement of halal MSMEs in our village,” she said.

This program is also supported by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology through the 2025 Community Service Program.

With this success, Maringgit Village is increasingly recognized as a center for halal MSMEs in South Kalimantan. ULM’s collaboration with the community is concrete evidence of the university’s contribution to increasing village economic capacity through research, mentoring, and knowledge downstreaming.
