LPPM ULM and the Balangan Education and Culture Office Collaborate to Conduct a Study on the Establishment of a Regional Museum
Paringin – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in collaboration with the Balangan Regency Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) conducted an academic study to support the planned establishment of the Balangan Museum. This effort is intended to ensure the local history and culture of Balangan Regency can be properly documented and passed on to future generations.
As part of the study process, ULM and the Balangan Regency Education and Culture Office held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving various stakeholders. The event took place in the Balangan Education and Culture Office Hall, South Paringin District, on Tuesday (September 16, 2025).
The Head of the Museum Study Research Team from LPPM ULM Banjarmasin, Wisnu Subroto, S.S., M.A., emphasized the importance of this step in strengthening the region’s historical and cultural identity.
“We conducted this study so that Balangan’s history and culture can be properly documented, remembered, and preserved for future generations,” he said.
Wisnu also presented the results of a survey his team had conducted regarding public views on the establishment of a museum. The survey revealed that 74 respondents agreed with the planned museum, while others held differing views.
“This survey helps us understand public expectations and provides input for the government in the museum establishment process,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Balangan Regency Education and Culture Office, Imdiyah Fadli, expressed his appreciation for ULM’s involvement in the museum establishment study process.
“Today’s activity aligns with the research objectives of the ULM LPPM, which is to support the planned museum establishment in Balangan,” he said.
This collaboration between ULM and the Balangan Education and Culture Office is expected to be an important first step in ensuring that the planned museum will not only serve as a repository for historical objects, but also as a center for education and preservation of Balangan culture.
