Students Actively Participate in Community Service Programs at the Hulu Sungai Utara Student Association (KM-HSU) Banjarmasin in North Hulu Sungai
Hulu Sungai Utara – Students from Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) actively participated in the Community Service Program of the Hulu Sungai Utara Student Association (KM-HSU) Banjarmasin, held from July 28–30, 2025, in Murung Panggang Village, South Amuntai District, Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) Regency.
The activity, which involved active students from various universities domiciled in North Hulu Sungai, is a KM-HSU Banjarmasin work program funded by the HSU Regional Government and supported by several sponsors. Over the three days of implementation, the committee and volunteers implemented eight work programs targeting children, adolescents, and the general public.
One of the ULM students who volunteered was Widad Nadiatul Azizah from the Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) ULM. She stated that this activity was a tangible manifestation of the students’ contribution to their home community.
“As a ULM student, I feel proud to be able to directly benefit the community. This community service also provides an opportunity to hone social skills and cross-campus collaboration,” said Widad.
The first day included the revitalization of the MI Nurul Ulum Daycare Center (TPA), teaching activities at the TPA, and the religious event “Murung Panggang Bersholawat” (Murung Panggang Bersholawat).
The second day included a marketing campaign for woven purun, a briefing on the dangers of drugs by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), a movie screening at the village hall, and a fried food cooking workshop for women.
The third day concluded with fun gymnastics, an inter-class competition at MI Nurul Ulum, and the dissemination of regional regulations.
These activities demonstrate the university’s role in encouraging the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service. ULM supports student participation in programs oriented towards empowerment, education, and the preservation of regional potential.
ULM consistently encourages its students to excel not only academically but also to demonstrate social awareness. Activities such as these align with the university’s mission to produce graduates with character and a positive impact on society.
The Community Service Activity of KM-HSU Banjarmasin in Murung Panggang Village is expected to strengthen the relationship between migrant students and the local community, while also helping to improve the quality of life of residents through education, mentoring, and social activities.
