ULM Self Love and Emotional Resilience Workshop: Learning to be Resilient on Campus
Banjarmasin, June 26, 2025 – The Academic Guidance and Counseling Support Unit (UPA BK) in collaboration with the Student Information and Counseling Center for Independent Youth Development (PIKMA-BRM) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) successfully held a Self Love and Emotional Resilience Workshop entitled “How to Become More Resilient on Campus”.
The activity, which was attended by dozens of students, presented Dr. Akhmad Fadly Noor, C.Ht., M.NLP, a doctor and practitioner in the field of neuropsychology and neurobehavior, as a resource person. This session was moderated by Ersa Amanda, Deputy IV of the Banjarmasin City GenRe Ambassador 2025.
The Chairperson of PIKMA-BRM ULM, Nisrina Arianti, in her speech expressed her hope that this activity would become a shared space for students to learn more deeply about the meaning of loving themselves.
“We believe that with this theme we can learn to know ourselves. Self-love is an important thing that we often ignore. Hopefully this workshop will be useful for all of us,” said Nisrina.
During the workshop session, participants were invited to recognize emotions, build self-confidence, and understand how to deal with pressure in the campus environment. The resource person said that self-love is not egoism, but a form of self-respect that is essential for building emotional resilience.
Participants seemed enthusiastic about following the entire series of interactive and reflective activities. Many of them felt more motivated to pay attention to mental health and began to make self-love a priority in their academic lives.
This workshop is a reminder of the importance of taking care of yourself in facing the dynamics of the world of college. UPA BK and PIKMA-BRM hope that similar activities can continue to be carried out as a form of ongoing support for the welfare of ULM students.
The Head of UPA BK ULM, Dr. Ririanti Rachmayanie J., S.Psi., M.Pd., emphasized that UPA BK is here not only to help students who are experiencing problems, but also to accompany those who want to know and develop their potential.
“UPA BK is a unit that can be visited by anyone, not just those who have problems. Students in semesters 2, 4, 6, and up to the end can come if they feel hampered academically or emotionally. In 2024 alone, there were 101 students who used this service,” she said.
She also added that access to mental health services such as counseling has not been maximized by many students, even though this service is available for free and easily accessible, both online and in person.
