Commemoration of Isra Miraj, a Moment for Muslims to Take Lessons from the Miracles of the Apostle

The commemoration of Isra Mi’raj is an important moment for Muslims because it is a reminder of one of the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. On the day of Isra Mi’raj, Rasulullah received an order from Allah SWT for Muslims to perform prayers five times a day and night.

In simple terms, the words “Isra” and “Mi’raj” refer to two different events. Isra’ is the nightly journey of the Prophet Muhammad from the Kaaba (Makkah) to Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem or Palestine). On the other hand, the Mi’raj event means that Allah SWT lifted the Prophet Muhammad SAW from Baitul Maqdis through the 7th heaven to Sidratul Muntaha.

Through the commemoration of Isra Mi’raj which falls on 27 Rajab Hijriah or which coincides with 27 January 2025, there are several lessons that Muslims can take to practice in their daily lives, including:

  • Understand the greatness of Allah SWT.

As Muslims, the Isra Mi’raj event has a big influence on us being able to understand the signs of the greatness of Allah SWT because in this event, Allah SWT showed the Messenger of Allah about heaven and hell, and His other greatness.

  • It is the obligation of Muslims to perform prayers.

One of the pillars of Islam that we must carry out as Muslims is praying. It was also during this event that the Prophet was ordered to pray five times a day.

The command to pray 5 times a day is written in the hadith of HR Bukhari which means:

“Five times is equivalent to fifty times. My decision will no longer change.” The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “I met Musa again.” He advised, “Go back to your Lord.” I replied, “I am ashamed of my Lord.” (HR Bukhari).

  • Tell the truth, even if it is bitter.

When the Messenger of Allah told the people of Mecca what he had just experienced after Isra Miraj he received a lot of ridicule . Many people do not believe in the illogical event of Isra Mi’raj. This shows that the truth must be conveyed, even if it is rejected.
