Handover of Menwa Commander Position and Commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary of Menwa Nagarunting

Banjarmasin, January 24, 2025 – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Handover of the Commander Position of the Suryanata Student Regiment Command (Menwa) Unit 601 Nagarunting while commemorating the 62nd Anniversary (HUT) of Menwa Nagarunting. The event took place solemnly at the ULM Multipurpose Building, Banjarmasin, on Friday (24/1), with the theme “62 Years of Menwa Nagarunting Footsteps: Exploring History and Strengthening the Spirit of Estuary to Build the Future.”
This event was led by the Menwa Unit 601 Nagarunting ULM Advisor, Dr. Anang Sophan Tornado, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., and attended by the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems of ULM, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., along with representatives from TNI-Polri agencies such as Danrem, Danrindam, Danpom, Danlanud, Danlanal, Dandim, Kapolda, and Kapolres in the South Kalimantan region.
The handover of office was carried out from the previous Menwa Commander, Achmad Sugiarto Santoso, to the new Commander, Ali Ahmad Abdul Gafar. The procession began with singing the song Indonesia Raya and the Mars of Lambung Mangkurat University, followed by the reading of the Panca Dharma Satya of the Indonesian Student Regiment.
The handover of office was carried out symbolically by handing over the command baton, command rope, and pinning of the position insignia by Dr. Anang Sophan Tornado, then continued with the signing of the handover manuscript.
“This handover is not just a change of leadership, but also a momentum to continue the fighting spirit and loyalty in building the character of strong students,” said Dr. Anang Sophan Tornado in his speech.
After the handover procession, the event continued with the cutting of the tumpeng as a symbol of gratitude for the 62-year journey of Menwa Nagarunting. This momentum is a reflection of Menwa’s contribution in forming a sense of esprit de corps, discipline, and leadership among ULM students. It is hoped that under the new leadership, Menwa Nagarunting will continue to play an active role in supporting the development of student characters with integrity, national insight, and are ready to face future challenges.
