Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in collaboration with the South Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham South Kalimantan) held a socialization of Apostille services for ULM students. This event took place at the Prof. H. Idham Zarkasi, S.H. Auditorium, with the theme “Providing Ease of Legalization of Apostille Documents for Education Abroad” on Monday (11/18/2024).

This activity aims to provide students with an understanding of public document legalization services that support the need for education abroad. Present at this event were the Head of the Legal Services and Human Rights Division, Ramlan Harun; Head of the Correctional Division, Said Mahdar; Dean of the ULM Faculty of Law, Dr. Achmad Faishal; as well as a number of other officials from the South Kalimantan Kemenkumham Regional Office and ULM Faculty of Law students also participated as the main participants.

In his remarks, the Head of the Legal Services and Human Rights Division, Ramlan Harun, explained that the Apostille service is an innovation from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights through the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (Ditjen AHU) to simplify the process of legalizing foreign public documents.

“This service was inaugurated on June 14, 2022 and has been in effect since June 4, 2022, in line with the Apostille Convention. In South Kalimantan itself, to date there have been 466 requests for Apostille services, including business, education, and population documents,” he explained.

The Dean of the ULM Faculty of Law, Dr. Achmad Faishal, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity and invited students to utilize knowledge about Apostille as preparation for facing global needs.

“The information presented today is very relevant, especially for students who plan to continue their education abroad. By understanding the Apostille process, students can take care of documents independently and efficiently,” said Dr. Faishal.

In addition, the Young Legal Analyst of the South Kalimantan Regional Office, Ariyanto, presented material on the Apostille service as a catalyst for E-Service in South Kalimantan. This presentation was enthusiastically welcomed by the students, who actively interacted and asked questions related to the process and benefits of the Apostille service.

This activity is expected to provide students with a deeper understanding, so that they are able to utilize this service optimally to support study or work opportunities abroad.
