Coordination with the UPKH Faculty Team in order to improve website and social media management
Banjarmasin – In order to improve the effectiveness of the performance of the public relations team at both the Rectorate and Faculty levels at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations and Information Systems Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc invited the Deputy Dean II of the Faculty, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Head of the Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations Bureau, Acting Cooperation and Public Relations Coordinator, Faculty UPKH Team (Public Relations), and Public Relations Sub-Coordinator and Staff.
The meeting, which was held on Wednesday (31/01/2024) in the Rectorate’s 2nd floor meeting room, discussed the weaknesses and obstacles experienced by the UPKH Faculty (Public Relations) Team regarding website management which has resulted in the performance of public information services being less than optimal so far. Moreover, Dewi Alfianti, S.Pd M.Pd, one of the Public Relations Team of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) explained that FKIP’s Public Relations has only been active in the last year, where previously FKIP’s UPKH (Collaboration and Public Relations Management Unit) was more inclined towards managing cooperation.
The existence of this public relations coordination meeting is certainly a forum for the Rectorate and Faculty Public Relations to exchange information, suggestions and strategies in carrying out the effectiveness and efficiency of public relations performance within the ULM environment. Apart from that, the features or content contained on the ULM website, both on the main page and the Faculty website, must be of important concern, because the website is a showcase for the University in displaying the best products, for example general information related to the University profile, and information related to academics (student registration). new), student affairs (Scholarships) and so on. Dr. Alif, one of the lecturers at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences who is part of the Public Relations Working Group, also believes this. He even designed a strategy for the Public Relations Team to develop features on the existing website. “We try to have our own uniqueness on our WEB, the features that must be there can be adopted according to those at ULM and can be added based on the uniqueness of each faculty,” he said.
On this occasion, the Chair of the WCU Task Force, Drg Irham, who was also present, added other PR duties which were expected to lead ULM to enter the list of 1500 World Class Universities (WCU) where the main indicator of concern was the increase in webometrics. This of course requires cooperation from various parties to be able to make the website in each unit a first requirement for the wider community, both students and other stakeholders, to visit as often as possible in order to increase the University’s webometrics figures.
