Rector Inaugurates BEM, DPM and UKM Management for 2024 Period
Banjarmasin – The Grand Inauguration of the 2024 ULM Student Family was held on Monday (12/2/2024) at the Lecture Theater General Building. One of the series of events was the Pledge and Oath of Office for DPM and BEM and UKM for the 2023 period. The Rector attended and inaugurated the new student family management for the 2024 period.
Ormawa, which consists of DPM, BEM and UKM, itself has an important task in achieving the university’s IKU. The Student Executive Board or what is usually called BEM is the highest organizational body within a University, Institute, Polytechnic or College. The existence of BEM in a university is very functional, both for the campus itself and for the Student Activity Unit (UKM) and the university’s academic community. The functions of BEM are: First, the Aspirational function: Playing a role as a container and distributor of student aspirations or desires. The two Advocacy functions; If there are students who have problems with difficulty paying tuition fees/deferrals, academic problems, transparency of student funding and the role of institutions in fighting for student rights. And the third is the Coordination function; Become a place for coordination and communication of various UKM interests and a bridge between student aspirations and the Rectorate. Apart from that, the DPM, which is the Student Representative Council, also has a role that is no less important, namely that the DPM has the obligation to supervise the performance of the executive body (BEM). DPM also audits the work program of the executive agency (BEM) during one work period.
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si in his speech had high hopes for the members of the Student Family management where the future of ULM also depends on their contribution. “I would like to invite all ULM students, especially all DPM and BEM and UKM administrators who were inaugurated today, that the future of ULM is on your shoulders,” said the Rector .
This inauguration and oath-taking event is not just a ceremonial activity, but is an important moment to remember the commitment, dedication and contribution of students, especially the families of ULM students. Through this inauguration, it is also hoped that all members of the student family will continue to innovate, collaborate and diversify in all aspects of campus life. “The program will be made as best as possible later. “Because universities have to compete with various other universities in our country,” added the Rector . In his remarks represented by members, the General Chairperson of the ULM General Election Commission (KPUM) expressed his belief that leading and serving with integrity, justice and leadership spirit of the new administrators will be agents of positive change for the progress of the student family and the campus as a whole
