ULM Plans Campus Development in Banua Anam to Support IKN

Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is planning to build a campus in Banua Anam or Banjar Hulu, which is a combined area of six districts covering a third of the territory of South Kalimantan Province to support the Archipelago Capital (IKN) of East Kalimantan. “The exact location has not yet been decided, what is certain is that we need a minimum of 30 hectares of land,” said ULM Rector Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Friday.

The Rector admitted that he had conveyed this to the Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor, and received full support from regional heads, including the regents in the Banua Anam region. The plan to develop the ULM campus is the attention of the central government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). He said the concept was a study program outside the main campus, namely being held in another area. “So ULM was asked to open certain campuses or study programs outside the city of origin, namely Banjarmasin City and Banjarbaru City,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the first study programs to be opened were for medical faculties and dental faculties with student status as study assignment delegates. “This is a mandate from the government to ULM to prepare highly educated human resources to support the progress of IKN,” explained Alim.
