ULM Selected as PTN Recipient of 2023 PMM Program

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Dr. dr. Iwan Aflanie, M.Kes., Sp.F., S.H., attended an invitation to sign a cooperation agreement as a Higher Education Recipient for the 2023 Independent Student Exchange Program on Thursday (15/6/2023) at the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture Building, Jakarta.

Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was again selected as one of the higher education recipients for the 2022 Independent Student Exchange program after previously successfully implementing the 2022 PMM by accepting 140 students from 64 PTNs and PTS from all over Indonesia.

In this year, Dr. Iwan said that there were around 144 students who would inbound or exchange lectures at ULM and around 198 ULM students who would outbound or exchange lectures to various campuses outside ULM. He also said that this year, the number of inbound students had not yet reached the number targeted by ULM, which was 200 people.

However, it is a matter of pride to be selected by ULM as the recipient university in the PMM program.

“Of course we are all happy and proud. Not all universities get this assignment, because there are terms and conditions that must be met. This is an achievement of ULM that should be appreciated,” said Dr. Ivan.

To expedite the implementation of PMM at ULM, Dr. Iwan explained that ULM had appointed a PIC or Person in Charge, namely Diani Ayu Pratiwi, M.Pd who would later assist in directing PMM activities at ULM. Looking at the previous year, the ULM PMM PIC collaborated not only with lecturers and those in charge, but also with ULM students so they could provide maximum assistance and assistance to inbound students.

“We always try to give the perfect. For example, when they are sick, we will take them to the LMMC ULM clinic or the nearest hospital. This is so that they feel comfortable and safe at ULM,” said Dr. Iwan.

He explained, in organizing PMM, what was prepared was not limited to academic matters, but rather facilities, infrastructure and accommodation for students. In addition, ULM as the PMM organizer is also responsible for giving a positive image and impression, not only the image of ULM but also the image of the region and culture of South Kalimantan.

The Independent Student Exchange Program or PMM is one of the implementations of the Merdeka Learning-Independent Campus program created by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. This year’s PMM program is the third implementation, in which PMM is held once a year for one semester.

Through the PMM program, students have the opportunity to receive lectures at other tertiary institutions across Indonesia. Quoting from its official website, the PMM program itself has specific objectives, including for students to be able to explore and learn about Indonesian culture, make friends with students from various regions, and get opportunities to learn from other campuses.
