Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) together with the South Kalimantan Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Memorandum of Understanding, which took place in the Hall of the Pancasila Mahligai Building, Banjarmasin on Thursday (13/4/2023).

The signing of the MoU was carried out directly by ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., along with the Head of the South Kalimantan Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Ariadi Noor who was also witnessed by the Governor of South Kalimantan Dr (HC). H. Sahbirin Noor, S.Sos., M.H., Chairman of the South Kalimantan DPRD Dr. (HC). H. Supian HK, SH, MH together with the 2023 Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) agenda for the preparation of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Work Plan for 2024.

In this MoU, ULM and the South Kalimantan Provincial Government’s Musrenbang agreed to collaborate in an effort to fulfill needs, obligations, and obtain benefits in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and Regional Development according to their respective roles.

There are 6 scopes of cooperation in this Memorandum of Understanding, namely:

  1. Education, Training, Research, and Community Service;
  2. Improvement and Development of Human Resources;
  3. Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program (MBKM);
  4. Organizational Development and Bureaucratic Reform;
  5. Business development; And
  6. Other agreed scope of work.

The establishment of this collaboration is a form of support and synergy from the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan for the progress of ULM in the context of educating, advancing and developing the sons and daughters of the Banua and the Indonesian nation.

In the Musrenbang it is known that in the last four years, South Kalimantan has succeeded in achieving quite encouraging development targets. In the midst of slowing world economic growth, South Kalimantan is still able to survive, with economic growth getting better from year to year. In 2021 it will grow 3.48 percent. Meanwhile, in 2022 it will grow by 5.1 percent.

Meanwhile, until 2022, the unemployment rate in South Kalimantan is only 4.7 percent and the poverty rate is 4.61 percent. The unemployment and poverty rates are far below the national average. Even South Kalimantan is a province with the smallest number of poor people in Indonesia. The Human Development Index (IPM) has reached 71.84. the environmental quality index is already at 71.9, which is close to the national average.

On the other hand, the income distribution gap, or the gini ratio, has also continued to decline. In 2021, the gini ratio in South Kalimantan will be at 0.325. Whereas in 2022 the figure is 0.309. This illustrates South Kalimantan’s Gini ratio inequality, which is included in the category of low inequality and is better than the national one.
