Baurak Suluh: PGSD and PG-PAUD Students of the FKIP ULM Showcased Artistic and Cultural Creativity
Banjarmasin – The Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Department and the Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD) Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an annual event titled “Baurak Suluh: Spreading the Light of Artistic Creativity to Develop Prospective Elementary School Teacher Education (PG-PAUD) Teachers who are Excellent, Innovative, and Have Character, while Upholding Cultural Values.”
This event opened the anniversary celebrations for both departments. The event took place at the Balairung Sari Building, South Kalimantan Cultural Park, on Wednesday (12/10) from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM WITA. Twenty-two Student Activity Units (UKM) of the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) and Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of ULM collaborated to make this event a success. Also present were professors and pioneers of the departments, including Prof. Dr. Ahmad Suriansyah and Prof. Dr. Aslamiah, along with lecturers, students, and educational staff from the Elementary School Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (PGSD) and Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD) departments of FKIP of ULM.
The series of events began with a dance performance, a recitation of the Quran, and remarks from the Head of the Elementary School Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (PGSD) Department, Noorhapizah. The event officially opened with the striking of a gong by Professor of Elementary School Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD), Prof. Dr. Aslamiah. The event culminated in a colossal drama performance titled “Cemooh,” followed by various other artistic performances, including dance, vocals, and creative performances by Elementary School Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (PG-PAUD) students.
One of the organizers, Celia, stated that this event was a form of gratitude for the department’s achievements and a tribute to the contributions of their predecessors. She hoped that Baurak Suluh would motivate students to continue developing Elementary School Teacher Training and Early Childhood Education (PGSD) departments so they could compete internationally.
The Head of the Elementary School Teacher Education Department, Noorhapizah, emphasized that the Baurak Suluh theme symbolizes the spread of the light of knowledge and creativity. She believes that teachers are the torches that illuminate students, while student creativity is the light carried through educational practice. She added that educational success is measured not only by academic achievement but also by teachers’ ability to foster creativity and preserve local culture.
