Tanah Laut – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic collaboration with the local government. Taking place in the Tanah Laut Regent’s Lounge, ULM and the Tanah Laut Regency Government held an official meeting on Thursday (November 20, 2025) to discuss the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will be renewed in 2026.

The meeting was attended by ULM’s Coordinator of Cooperation and Public Relations, Andi Nursalam, representing ULM, and Abdilah, Expert Staff for Government, Law, and Politics (PHP) from the Tanah Laut Regency Government. The two sides held initial discussions regarding the direction and scope of future collaboration.

During this meeting, both parties highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in strategic sectors, particularly those related to marine potential, coastal areas, community economic studies, and regional development. ULM is expected to contribute by providing more targeted academic support, applied research, and community service activities that will have a tangible impact on the development of the Tanah Laut region.

In addition to discussing potential program developments, the meeting also agreed on the importance of regular evaluations of the ongoing collaboration. Evaluations are planned every six months to ensure that programs remain relevant, on-target, and provide optimal benefits. These regular evaluations are also expected to serve as a catalyst for each regional government agency (SKPD) within the Tanah Laut Regency Government to further maximize opportunities for collaboration with ULM.

Through this initial discussion, ULM and the Tanah Laut Regency Government affirmed their shared commitment to continuously strengthening synergies between universities and local governments. This ongoing collaboration is expected to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of education, developing regional potential, and accelerating community development in Tanah Laut. ULM expressed its appreciation for the Tanah Laut Regency Government’s support and hopes that the extension of the MOU to 2026 will open up broader collaboration opportunities and achieve long-term impacts for both parties.
