Banjarmasin, July 15, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a farewell ceremony for 45 students on Tuesday (July 15, 2025). The farewell ceremony was held to demonstrate their contribution to community empowerment and student capacity building through the 2025 Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa).

The farewell ceremony was also attended by faculty leaders, supervising lecturers, and representatives of student organizations. This event was the first step before the official farewell at the university level for the four ULM teams that successfully received national funding.

Of the four ULM teams that received PPK Ormawa funding, three are from ULM Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. They are:

  1. The FKIK Student Executive Board (BEM) with its Greenlish Tourism program in Kampung Hijau Sungai Bilu, combining the concepts of a tourist village and an English village.
  2. The Student Representative Council (DPM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) launched the BUNGAS Women’s School program in Karang Intan Village to improve women’s life skills.
  3. The Emergency Nursing Team (TENSI), with the Sobat Nelayan project, created an IoT-based smart buoy to improve the safety and welfare of fishermen in Simpang Warga Village.
  4. The Head of the Student and Alumni Potential Development Unit and PIC of the Student Organization Development Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (ULM) stated that this achievement makes FKIK the faculty with the highest PPK Ormawa funding at ULM.

“This farewell is not just a ceremony, but part of a strategic effort to prepare students to go to partner villages,” he said.

The Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Dr. dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Pd., FISPH., FISCM, also provided important guidance to the participants. He emphasized three key aspects to consider during the program’s implementation:

  1. Strengthening student organization institutions through the implementation of impactful programs.
  2. Involving secondary and tertiary stakeholders, such as community leaders and beneficiary families, to expand outreach.
  3. The sustainability of the program, including mentoring and follow-up plans, ensures that partner villages can continue the initiative independently.

The Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) also emphasized the importance of the team’s commitment to implementing the program according to the approved proposal.

“Consistency and collaboration between the implementation team, student organization administrators, and supervising lecturers are key to the program’s success,” he emphasized.

The Student Organization Development Program (PPK Ormawa) itself is part of the broader mission of higher education to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through student community service and empowerment. In addition to village development, the program also aims to hone students’ leadership, teamwork, and project management skills.

Embracing the “Impact Campus” spirit, Lambung Mangkurat University hopes that the implementation of the 2025 PPK Ormawa will generate real social transformation in partner villages and produce a generation of students who excel, care, and adapt to community challenges.
