Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a welcoming event for Inbound Student Exchange Batch 4 of the Independent Student Exchange Program with the theme “Strengthening Integrity, Developing National Insight, Strengthening Diversity, Unity and Nationalism” on Tuesday, (27/2/2024) A total of 96 Inbound students from 53 state and private universities choose ULM as a place for them to carry out their off-campus learning experiences.

Present at the event were Head of the Independent Student Exchange Program at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Asri Almira Putri, Regional Coordinator of Independent Student Exchange for Lambung Mangkurat University who attended via Zoom meeting, Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs at ULM, Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH., Senate Secretary Dr. Ir. Zainal Abidin, M.P., Nusantara Module Lecturer, and 96 Inbound students and ULM students.

The Student Exchange Program is one of the priority programs of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Ministry of Education and Research and Technology which provides students with the opportunity to exercise their right to study outside their home university. Through PMM it is hoped that it can increase national insight, love for the country, and have an understanding of student diversity and tolerance.

This program encourages a transformational step where higher education is not only a place of learning limited by classrooms but also a space for meetings, various languages, cultures and traditions so that they can go hand in hand and get to know each other.

“It is hoped that the learning and experience that you will gain from the PMM Program can become important capital to build a generation that is not only ready to become national leaders but also able to accept differences and be ready to move forward to grow together,” said a representative of the PMM Coordinator of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology in a zoom meeting.

On the other hand, ULM also strongly supports the running of the PMM program under the auspices of ULM Vice Rector I by providing support and guidance to the program management team. This is also supported by the contribution of the Study Program Coordinator who also has an important role in the success of the program. A total of 96 Inbound students have carried out PMM Program activities since February 16. 23 of them were placed at the Banjarbaru Campus and 73 others were placed at the Banjarmasin Campus who were supervised by Nusantara Module Lecturers, namely Muhammad Syahdan from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Hafizianoor from the Faculty of Forestry, Mellanie Yuliastina from the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Akhmad Riandi Agusta from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Education Science.

In accordance with the aim of establishing this program by the ministry, namely strengthening national insight and the sense of unity and nationalism that they have, therefore, the learning process is not only limited to the classroom. Various kinds of programs and activities have been arranged to fill the activities of Inbound Students during their stay in Banjarmasin for the next semester. “God willing, we (Inbound Students) will not only study here, but they will also learn a lot about local wisdom, especially the wisdom of the area in South Kalimantan,” said Dr. Iwan.
