ULM Rector Releases Foreign Students for 2023 SEA Teacher Program
Banjarmasin – Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., officially sent off the group of overseas students who took part in the SEA (South East Asian) Teacher SEAMEO (The Southeast Asian Minister of Education Organization) 2023 program. The send off was held in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building ULM Banjarmasin on Wednesday (18/10/2023).
SEA Teacher (Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia) is a collaborative program from seven ASEAN countries initiated by SEA MEO. This program itself aims to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia and revitalize teacher education in each country with one of its programs, namely international student teaching practices. The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) ULM is one of the faculties participating in this program.
At this release event, there were 2 students from the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), Philippines, namely Lyka A Darvin and Jin Ju A Hong. They are the last group of the 2023 SEA Teacher program and have stayed for one month to carry out teaching practice at SMAN Banua. In carrying out the teaching practice program, they were accompanied by Rene M. Babiera II as Coordinator of the International Linkages and Affairs Office of UIC.
In this activity, the Dean of FKIP ULM, Prof. Dr. Sunarno Basuki, Drs., M. Kes. AIFO; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs FKIP ULM, Prof. Dr. Deasy Arisanty, S.Sc., M.Sc.; Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance, FKIP ULM, Dr. Dharmano, M.Sc.; Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, FKIP ULM, Dr. Ali Rachman S.Pd., M.Pd., Chair and Secretary of the Independent Campus Learning Unit (MBKM) FKIP ULM, Riya Irianti and Hendro Julius; Head of the Community Cooperation and Relations Management Unit (UPKH), Nanik Mariani; as well as 8 FKIP ULM students who are taking part in the 2023 SEA Teacher program: Hana Zulfariah Nurhayati (Mathematics Education), Hilyatul Atqiya (English Education), Emma Nur Inayah (Economic Education), Hadad Wiqoldi Putra (Physical Education), Shofiya Nurriyati Salma (Sociology Education ), Siti Zulfah (Social Studies Education), Ahmad Bakharzi Hakam (Physics Education), and Arnita Purnama (Chemical Education).
This year, FKIP ULM succeeded in sending 8 students to 3 universities in Thailand and the Philippines, namely Kanchanaburi Rajhabat University (KRU Thailand) for 2 outbound students and 6 other students were placed at 2 universities in the Philippines, namely Saint Louis University (SLU) and the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) for inbound and outbound student programs in implementing the SEA Teacher program. FKIP ULM has also accepted 2 students from SLU in the name of Shainna D. Padang from the Social Sciences Education Study Program and Maclaine P. Fonacier from the English Education Study Program who will carry out this program for 1 month, namely 2-27 September 2023 with teaching practice at GIBS High School .
Apart from releasing 2 foreign students, this meeting also discussed activity reports of 8 FKIP ULM students who took part in the SEA Teacher program in the Philippines and Thailand. According to the Vice Dean of FKIP ULM for Academic Affairs, Prof. Deasy Arisanty, this program has officially ended and was successfully held.
“This program will be implemented regularly with various universities, this year with universities in Thailand and the Philippines,” she said.
In the future, Prof. Deasy said that this program will continue to be prioritized to become the flagship of FKIP ULM in fulfilling the IKU in the field of international cooperation in addition to plans to develop other collaborations with various universities abroad.
