Lecturer and Student Team for Chemistry Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, ULM, Won National Teaching Video Competition
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has again added to its list of achievements. This time, a team consisting of students and lecturers from the Chemistry Education study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, ULM, became one of the winners in the National Teaching Video Competition. Based on the attachment to letter number 6662/E2/DT.00.02/2023 of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) regarding the announcement of the 50 winners of the 2023 Learning Video Innovation Work Competition Program (K2IVP), lecturers of the Study Program (PS) Chemistry Education, Yogo Dwi Prasetyo and his students Fina Aulia, Maisum, Nika Sopranti, and Wulan Rahmadhani who act as practitioners in the Organic Chemistry Laboratory of FKIP ULM, succeeded in becoming one of the winners.
K2IVP is a competition program aimed at higher education academics within the Ministry of Education and Culture in terms of creating learning media in the form of innovative and creative learning videos. According to the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, the use of learning videos has an important role in supporting Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
The use of learning videos can improve the quality of learning and improve students’ skills, preparing them to compete in an increasingly tough job market. Learning videos can also be an alternative for students to gain learning experience outside the campus environment, by providing learning videos from institutions or companies that have content that is relevant to the Business and Industrial World (DUDI).
Lecturers also have the opportunity to create learning videos that can be accessed off campus, reinforcing the concept of lifelong learning. Apart from that, the use of learning videos also supports the teaching and learning process by involving practitioners or experts from outside the campus as resource persons. Interactive learning videos have the potential to support collaborative and participatory learning, allowing students to play an active role in the learning process.
The learning video made by Yoga and his students was entitled “Synthesis of Salicylic Acid”. The videos in the competition were previously uploaded to the YouTube channel and registered with the Spada Kemdikbudristek system via the page https://spada.kemdikbud.go.id/. Videos by Yogo Dwi Prasetyo and his students are uploaded via his personal YouTube channel (Exemplary Material) which can be accessed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJT849ww_y0. The selection stage will be held in July-August 2023 and the winner was originally announced in September but the schedule changed, so it was only announced on October 9 2023.
