Regional Selection of the XVIII POMNAS for the Pencak Silat Sports Branch Officially Opened
Banjarmasin – Opening Regional selection for the sport of Pencak silat is officially open. This selection was carried out in the context of implementing POMNAS XVIII which will be held next November on Friday (16/06/2023). This activity was held at the Multipurpose Building of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Banjarmasin and was attended by the Vice Rector Dr. Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Sc., Governor’s Special Staff, Chairperson of the South Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, Head of the South Kalimantan Province Youth and Sports Service, Chair of the South Kalimantan Indonesian Student Sports Advisor, Head of the South Kalimantan Province Youth and Sports Service, the Pencak Silat Jury Council and Participants in the selection of the Pencak Silat Sports Branch and the Chairperson of IPSI Kalsel
The Vice Rector in his remarks said that POMNAS XVIII was a big award for ULM, so he really appreciated the activities entrusted to ULM to realize this implementation. “We are determined that South Kalimantan students and athletes must be successful and win medals at POMNAS this time,” he said. It is estimated that on November 11 all athletes from all over Indonesia will arrive. This is the third selection for the pencak silat sport. The Vice Rector hopes that POMNAS XVIII can be successful and get support from various parties to be able to make the activities that are routinely held every year a success.
The opening activity for this regional selection also invited the Governor of South Kalimantan to lead the event, but he was unable to attend and the speech he wanted to deliver was represented by the Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Youth and Sports Service. In his message, the Governor of South Kalimantan expressed his appreciation for the regional selection for the sport of pencak silat. “Congratulations and success I wish the pencak silat athletes who came from all over the universities in South Kalimantan,” he said.
The Governor also hopes that this selection will produce the best regional pencak silat athletes who can compete and achieve the highest achievements at the POMNAS event later. Because apart from competing in the highest student-level sports events in Indonesia, POMNAS can be a bridge to become a professional athlete and a mainstay in international events. “So take advantage of this event as well as possible” he added in his message. The governor also advised the heads of the participants and athletes who will later compete in the POMNAS championship to uphold sportsmanship.
