The 86th Specialist Doctor’s Inauguration and Doctor’s Oath Taking

Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Medicine, University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) again produced Doctor and Specialist graduates at the “Inauguration of the 3rd batch of Internal Medicine specialists, 5th batch of Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, 3rd batch of Pediatricians and Oath Taking Doctor batch 86”, Wednesday (17/5/2023).

This event was attended by 38 doctors and 4 specialist doctors consisting of 1 Internal Medicine Specialist, 1 Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialist, and 2 Pediatricians who were held in the Theater Room of the ULM Faculty of Medicine. Present at the ULM Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance Dr. Ir. Arief Rahmad Maulana Akbar, M.Sc., IPU, Dean of the ULM Medical Faculty, Head of the ULM Medical Faculty Senate, Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Service, and Director of the Ulin Hospital in Banjarmasin.

Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Dr. Diauddin, M. Kes., congratulated the doctors and specialist doctors who have completed their education at FK ULM. He hopes that today’s inaugurated graduates can become doctors who fully contribute to society and the country. Health development aims to increase awareness, willingness, and ability to live a healthy life for everyone in order to realize the highest degree of public health.

Health workers contribute to the success of health development by up to 80%, where doctors are also one of the health workers who have an important role in improving maximum health services to the community. In the era of globalization, health workers including doctors are required to improve medical services and follow the development of science and technology and be able to use it to become professional medical staff in facing the challenges of health problems that are still being faced today, such as the problem of “stunting”.

Fulfilling the needs of health workers, especially doctors, is expected to be able to help overcome existing health problems with maximum effort. Moreover, the Province of South Kalimantan still lacks specialist doctors in several hospitals, especially the completeness of 4 Basic and 3 Supporting specialists. This is based on the Head of the Health Service who expects graduates of specialist doctors who are inaugurated today to join the specialist doctor empowerment program which is a government breakthrough in the context of fulfilling and equalizing the need for specialist doctors in the regions.

Dean of FK ULM, Dr. dr. Istiana, M.Kes., said that until now the Faculty of Medicine has been able to play a role in providing doctors in South Kalimantan and spread throughout Indonesia. FK ULM is also known to have graduated 29 new medical specialists which of course can be distributed to areas in need. Responding to a statement from the Head of the Health Service regarding the lack of availability of specialist doctors in South Kalimantan, the Dean of the ULM Faculty of Medicine said that the ULM Faculty of Medicine had made various programs related to the fulfillment of specialist doctors and general practitioners.
