National Seminar “Opportunities and Challenges for Local Government Innovation” Presented by the DiRectorate General of Regional Autonomy

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Lambung Mangkurat University held a national seminar with the topic “Opportunities and Challenges for Local Government Innovation” on Tuesday (7/2/2023) in the Theater Hall of Building 1 FISIP ULM Banjarmasin. This event presented the DiRector General of Regional Autonomy, Dr. Drs. Akmal Malik, M.Sc., as the Keynote Speaker along with 3 (three) other presenters namely the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of South Kalimantan Province Dr. Ir. Ariadi Noor, M.Sc., Lecturer at the Political Department of FISIP UNAIR and Lab45 Senior Advisor Drs. Haryadi, M.Sc., and Lecturer in Public Administration at FISIP ULM Dr. Tomi Oktavianor, M.Soc., Sc.

In this event the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc had the opportunity to give a speech as well as open the national seminar which was being held by FISIP ULM. The Rector of ULM expressed his appreciation for holding a national seminar which was attended by the DiRector General of Otda. Moreover, the topic chosen is a topic that is relevant in order to face the paradigm of implementing the national development process in Indonesia, especially in South Kalimantan. “This is a strategic step and a proud momentum, especially with the presence of today’s speakers,” said the Rector.

The Rector also said that by holding this national seminar, the discussions being held would not only address the opportunities and challenges of local government innovation, but would also address the challenges of the ULM management process itself. Currently, ULM is in the transitional stage from PTN with Satker body to PTN BLU (Public Service Agency), so that ULM has a special challenge to become an innovative university in dealing with changes in organizational structure and policies that will be implemented later.

The Rector referred to the implementation of this National Semester as the basic capital and initial capital for ULM to prepare for the ULM management transition process from Satker to BLU to PTN-BH later. “To realize ULM’s dream of becoming a PTN with a legal entity, support from various ULM external parties, both the government and other parties,” said Prof. Ahmad.
