The Banjarbakula Rapid Transit (BRT) Bus Will Pass Through the ULM Campus

Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), which has campuses in two cities, namely Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru, is sometimes a challenge in the smooth running of lectures and other campus activities, especially for students who have limited choices of modes of transportation. Therefore, ULM together with the Prov. South Kalimantan is collaborating to be able to add routes to the destination of the Banjarmasin-Banjarbaru BRT by adding several bus stop locations within the ULM campus environment. As a follow-up to this collaborative activity, ULM together with the Prov. South Kalimantan held discussions about the plans for the BanjarBakula BRT Bus line and trials within the Banjarmasin Lambung Mangkurat University campus environment.

Discussions between the Head of the Prov. South Kalimantan M. Fitri Hernadi, A.P., M.Si and representatives from ULM namely the Deputy Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc, Dean of the ULM Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Ir. Irphan Fitrian Radam, ST., MT., IPU, Head of General Affairs and Finance Bureau Akhmad Iskandar, S.Pd., M.Pd who is located at the Prov. South Kalimantan, Tuesday (17/01/2023).

In this discussion it was determined that the planned departure schedule for the BRT Banjarmasin-Banjarbaru would be carried out 2 times in 1 day, namely morning (06.30-07.00) and afternoon (16.30-17.00). This was intended for students studying in Banjarmasin but domiciled in Banjarbaru to be able to attend lectures safely and comfortably while driving. The Head of the ULM General Affairs and Finance Bureau said that this could also be used for other activities where many new student activities were carried out at ULM Banjarmasin. This can be a means of transportation that can make it easier for users, especially students, to carry out lecture activities and other campus activities.

Bus rapid transit, abbreviated as BRT Banjarbakula, is a bus-based mass transit system that provides fast, convenient and low-cost mobility in its services as urban transportation. BRT uses special lanes and excellent service to users which basically adapts the performance characteristics and service reliability of modern rail-based transit systems, but at a lower cost.
