National Waste Awareness Day: ULM Emphasizes the Impactful Role of Campuses
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a community cleanup effort on Saturday (February 14, 2026) in the front yard of the ULM Banjarmasin Campus. The activity was a follow-up to the Banjarmasin Mayor’s Circular Letter No. 400.115/0316/TL-DLH/II/2026, which calls for community service to increase awareness of waste management among the academic community.
This cleanup also served as a form of ULM’s participation in commemorating National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) 2026. The ULM academic community lecturers, administrative staff, students, and cleaning staff took part in cleaning the campus area, collecting trash, and organizing the environment to make it more tidy and comfortable.
Acting The Head of BPKH, Muhammad Ilyas, emphasized that this activity represents ULM’s concrete commitment to supporting the Banjarmasin City Government’s policies regarding environmental management. He stated that the campus, as a center of education, must be a role model in fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental awareness.
“It is hoped that we will care about cleanliness not only today, but every day,” he said.
He further stated that the active participation of the ULM academic community can support the Banjarmasin City Government’s program in realizing the vision of a Prosperous, Advanced Banjarmasin. Synergy between universities and the local government is considered crucial for creating a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable urban environment.
Through this activity, ULM affirms its commitment as an Impactful Campus, which continues to promote environmental awareness on an ongoing basis. This is part of the implementation of the Tri Pillars of Higher Education, particularly in community service and character building among the academic community who care about cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
