Banjarmasin — The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Public Lecture on Financial Literacy and Inclusion in Sharia General Insurance with the theme “Insurance-Literate Young Generation: Wisely Manage Risk, Ready to Face the Future” on Friday (10/17/2025). This activity aims to raise students’ awareness of the importance of managing financial risk from an early age through a sharia insurance system based on the values of fairness and sustainability.
The event was officially opened by ULM’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Si., who in his remarks expressed his appreciation to PT Asuransi Jasindo Syariah for their collaboration in strengthening students’ understanding of the sharia financial industry.
“We are grateful for the excellent collaboration with Asuransi Jasindo Syariah. Through this activity, students gain knowledge about sharia insurance, which will serve as an important foundation for their careers and entrepreneurship,” he said.
He also emphasized that ULM continues to expand synergies between academia, business, and industry to produce adaptable graduates who are ready to face future economic challenges.
“Students are equipped not only with theory, but also with practical experience through internships and ongoing collaborations. Hopefully, this literacy will not stop in the classroom but continue into the workplace,” he added.
The public lecture featured At Yaltha, President Director of PT Asuransi Jasindo Syariah, as the main speaker. With more than 25 years of experience in the insurance sector, he shared insights on the importance of understanding the principles and practices of transparent Sharia general insurance and mutual risk sharing (ta’awun).
“Sharia financial literacy among students is a crucial foundation for building sustainable community economic resilience,” he said at the beginning of the presentation.
As the oldest state university in Kalimantan, Lambung Mangkurat University is committed to continuing to be a pioneer in expanding financial literacy and inclusion among the younger generation.
Through educational activities like these, ULM plays an active role in fostering financial awareness while strengthening synergies with national Islamic financial institutions to create an inclusive and equitable economic ecosystem.
