Impactful Community Service Program: FPIK ULM Students Participate in Joint Harvest in Sepunggur Village, a Concrete Demonstration of Support for Food Security
TANAH BUMBU – Students participating in the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) demonstrated their commitment to supporting national food security by directly participating in a joint harvest activity in Sepunggur Village, Kusan Tengah District, on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).
The harvest, initiated by the village government, was lively and full of mutual cooperation. The harvest was attended by the Kusan Tengah District Head, Aidil Adha, representatives from the Military District Command (Koramil), the Police Chief and his staff, agricultural extension officers, and local farmers. The FPIK ULM KKN-T students mingled with village officials and residents in harvesting agricultural produce, demonstrating synergy between the academic world, government, and the community.
In his remarks, District Head Aidil Adha expressed his appreciation for the students’ active role.
“We welcome the presence of these students who are not only carrying out the Community Service Program (KKN) but also directly assisting the community. This is a positive collaboration that supports regional and national food security,” he said.
Through this activity, students gain field experience and the opportunity to learn cultivation techniques used by the local community. Aldinosa, Head of the KKN-T Group in Sepunggur Village, ULM, emphasized that their involvement is a form of community service.
“We hope this activity will have a positive impact and become a real contribution to supporting the food security program launched by President Prabowo’s government,” he said.
The presence of ULM students during the harvest not only strengthens the relationship between the campus and the village community but also provides a means of transferring knowledge relevant to local needs, particularly in the coastal areas of South Kalimantan.
With this activity, ULM reaffirms its role as a university actively building strategic cross-sector partnerships to realize sustainable agriculture and fisheries and strengthen national food security.
