“Adab Rahayu” Sendratasik FKIP Raises the Theme of Family and Local Culture
Banjarmasin — The Performing Arts Education Study Program of FKIP Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) will hold the 14th annual Sendratasik Berkarya performance entitled “Adab Rahayu”. The performance will be held at the Balairung Sari Building, South Kalimantan Cultural Park, on Saturday (12/21/2024).
“Adab Rahayu” raises the theme of family with a mix of theater, dance, and traditional music typical of South Kalimantan. Director Azai Gampa explained that this theme is different from previous performances which often revolved around history and myths.
“We want to present something that is closer to everyday life, but still contains strong local cultural values,” said Azai.
This performance is a collaboration with students from the 2021 to 2024 intake and is also part of the final assignment of seventh semester students of the FKIP ULM Performing Arts Education Study Program. The entire crew and cast have been preparing for this performance for two months, starting from practicing the characters, choreography, and musicality of the performance.
In a broadcast on Pro2 FM 95.2 MHz RRI Banjarmasin on Monday (16/12/2024), Akhmad Hamdani as the stage manager, Krisna Puteri as the main actor, and M. Zaini as the main resource person discussed the creative process behind this performance.
Akhmad Hamdani explained that Sendratasik Berkarya has become an annual tradition and always involves strict selection of students from various classes.
“This activity is a form of art appreciation as well as educating the public about the importance of preserving local culture,” he added.
Krisna Puteri, the main character Rahayu in this performance, admitted that she was helped by the direction of the director and production team in exploring her role.
“The character Rahayu depicts family values that are full of love and manners, so it is very relevant to the theme,” she said.
This performance is expected to not only be an event for art appreciation but also be able to introduce the richness of South Kalimantan culture to the wider community. With various traditional elements displayed, “Adab Rahayu” is expected to inspire and strengthen respect for local cultural values.
The audience can watch this performance live from 19.00 WITA until finished. Through this performance, ULM once again shows its commitment to supporting the development of performing arts and preserving regional culture.
