ULM Task Force Holds Socialization of Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence for Dentists at RSGM
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to a safe campus environment free from sexual violence through the prevention and handling of sexual violence (PPKS) program. This time, the socialization of the PPKS program was held in the 5th Floor Hall of the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) Service Building, Monday (16/12/2024).
This activity was organized by the Dentistry Professional Education Study Program (PSPPDG) and presented speakers from the PPKS (Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence) Task Force team of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat. Participants who attended consisted of Doctors in Charge of Services (DPJP) and Young Dentists (DGM) at the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital.
In this activity, the PPKS Task Force team explained strategic steps to create a campus environment free from sexual violence. The material presented included an introduction to the types of sexual violence, reporting mechanisms, and comprehensive handling of victims.
“Through this program, we want to build collective awareness that sexual violence should not be tolerated. We also emphasize the importance of the active role of all academicians in creating a safe and supportive environment,” said one of the representatives of the PPKS Task Force team.
Head of the Training Section of the Gusti Hasan Aman RSGM, drg. Suparni Puji Lestari, MM., representing the Director of the RSGM expressed her appreciation for this activity.
“This kind of activity is the first to be held, especially for professional students at the Gusti Hasan Aman RSGM. Hopefully, through this activity we can increase insight and awareness about sexual violence that can happen anywhere and anytime, both to men and women,” she said.
Coordinator of the PSPPDG FKG ULM, Dr. drg. Debby Saputera, Sp.Pros., said that this activity is also a program of the PPKS Task Force where they conduct socialization to faculties in the ULM environment.
“If you pay close attention in SIMARI ULM, there is a banner belonging to the PPKS Task Force that can be clicked to be used if you want to report cases of sexual violence in the ULM environment,” said drg. Debby.
Participants showed high enthusiasm during the session. The interactive discussion provided an opportunity for young dentists and DPJP to share views and ask questions about practical steps that can be applied in the work and study environment.
With this activity, ULM hopes to build an inclusive campus culture that is responsive to issues of sexual violence. This program is expected to be an important step in creating a safe, friendly campus environment that supports the sustainability of professional education.
