The Rector Gives Directions in the Context of Preparation for 2024 Accreditation

Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad, S.E., M.Sc., gave directions to the teaching staff (lecturers) at ULM. This activity was held on Thursday (5/1/2022) at the General Building ULM Banjarmasin.

This briefing was delivered in the context of increasing educational qualifications and related to the promotion of functional academic positions of lecturers. In his material, Prof. Ahmad conveyed the importance of increasing the academic rank of Lecturers. According to the data and evaluation results conveyed by the Rector, over the past 3 years, there have been approximately 370 lecturers who have never proposed an academic promotion. According to the Rector, this condition is not profitable for ULM.

“Supposedly 30% of the Head Lecturers must already become Professors. We have to catch up on this, as much as possible and as quickly as possible,” said the Rector. The Rector said that efforts to increase academic functional positions are also in the framework of preparing for the institutional accreditation process which will be carried out in 2024 later. In addition, the Rector also conveyed the target for all faculties to open postgraduate programs of at least 3 study programs. This is to encourage the acceleration of ULM improvement in the field of publications as well as to encourage the strengthening of ULM as a tertiary institution.

“We have to design these targets so we can pursue them all,” he said. The Rector also said that faculties and study programs collaborate to design final semester student mentoring so that students can immediately complete their final assignments and graduate on time. This also relates to university accreditation assessments.
