Mapala Wira Economica FEB Holds 8th National Bouldering Contest 2024
Banjarmasin – The nature lover student organization (Mapala) Wira Economica, Faculty of Economics and Business, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) celebrated its 39th anniversary on Thursday (5/12/2024). At this moment, Mapala Wira Economica also held the opening of the 8th National Bouldering Contest, Mayor of Banjarmasin Cup 2024.
This prestigious competition will take place from 5-8 December 2024 at the FEB ULM Campus. A total of 87 rock climbing sports enthusiasts from various regions in Indonesia also showed off their abilities in this prestigious competition.
Mapala Wira Economica collaborated with the Banjarmasin City Government in organizing the competition. On this occasion, Vice Rector IV of ULM, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., was present representing the Chancellor to open the series of 8th National Bouldering Contest, Mayor of Banjarmasin Cup.
“Thank you for the support from the city government, provincial government, and sponsors for this activity. Good luck to all participants who participated in this competition,” said Dr. Yusuf Azis.
The Chief Executive, Alifia Salsabila reported that in the 8th National Bouldering Contest, the Mayor of Banjarmasin Cup, there were 6 competition categories, namely the General Male Category, General Female Category, Mapala Male Category, Mapala Female Category, U-15 Male Category, and U-15 Female Category.
“This competition is designed to provide space for rock climbers to channel their talents while building a positive spirit among young people,” said Alifia.

In the future, Alifia hopes that Mapala Wira Economica can be more courageous in holding bigger and more prestigious competitions while strengthening the existence of its organization.
A Rahim, as the Technical Delegate explained the competition system, where for four days, participants will be assessed based on the number of tops and bonuses achieved on the boulder route.
“In the qualification, we will select the 20 best participants to advance to the next round. Finally, the six best participants from each category will enter the final,” he explained.
On the first day, the competition began with the General Men’s and Women’s categories and Mapala Men’s and Women’s. The U-15 category will compete on Saturday (7/12/2024). Then the final round for all disciplines will be held on Sunday (8/12/2024).
“Hopefully the entire series of events will run smoothly and the weather is supportive,” he concluded.
