378 Medical and MIPA Students Conduct KKN PPM in Banjar Regency
Banjarbaru – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is holding a student release activity to carry out the 2023 Community Empowerment Learning Real Work Lecture (KKN-PPM) with the theme “Improving Life Quality through Health and Family Life”. This release was carried out online and offline on Monday (3/7/2023) in the ULM Banjarbaru Faculty of Medicine Hall. A total of 378 students from the Faculty of Medicine and MIPA, University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) were released by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc. Present at this release activity were the Chairperson of the ULM Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) Prof. Sunardi, S.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D, and the deans and related staff. Also present were the Regional Secretary of Banjar Regency, HM. Hillman.
The Vice Rector explained that as many students would later work in two areas in Banjar Regency, namely in West Martapura and Mataraman District. He also added the importance of implementing KKN and hoped that all participants would be able to maintain and run the KKN well later. “This KKN is thematic KKN. In the future at ULM, this Community Service Program will become mandatory for all faculties and all students must enter the compulsory curriculum, “said the Vice Rector.
Chairman of LPPM Prof. Sunardi, S.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D, said these students had to take the PPM KKN because they were taking compulsory courses. “Because entering the assessment is equivalent to three Semester Credit Units (SKS), students are required to carry out activities for 144 hours or for one month,” he said.
Prof. Sunardi further explained that during the Community Service Program, students would carry out several activities, namely in the first week analyzing the situation, then from the results of the analysis a group work program would be made. Then learn to find solutions to problems that exist in the surrounding community. He hopes that through this KKN students can learn to live in society and will be equipped with students how to live in real society and apply their knowledge in the field.
On the same occasion the Regional Secretary of Banjar Banjar Regency, HM Hilman who is also an alumni of the ULM Faculty of Engineering, thanked and appreciated ULM’s trust in sending students from Medicine and MIPA to two locations, namely in West Martapura and Mataraman District. “We hope that with the assistance of this Student Community Service Program it can help improve the quality of life of the community in accordance with the theme of this year’s Community Service Program, namely Improving Life Quality through Health and Family Life. Bearing in mind that in the two sub-districts it is necessary to improve the quality of life so that it can prosper, “he said.
